UV service for Greenland

UV index at clear sky and local noon

The UV service for Greenland provides UV-index forecasts in the period from March to October.

The UV-index is valid for local noon (maximum solar elevation) and clear sky conditions and is thus the maximum UV-index obtainable on a given day.

The UV-index calculations are based on the most recent forecast of the thickness of the ozone layer, based upon observed total ozone columns from the GOME-2 instruments aboard the METOP-A and -B satellites.

The service is available from DMI as a part of the EUMETSAT AC SAF.
